EXAMPLE 1


SMS units prices are set in ranges. let us take for example:


1-100 = N2
101-5000 = N1.8
5001-1000000 = N1.5

The first line indicates that this gateway is selling SMS units between 1 - 100 for 2 naira per unit.

hence if you want to buy 50 sms units, you will pay 50x2= N100.

This same technique can be applied to the 2nd and 3rd line. On sending, sms units are deducted from your account based on the GSM network you are sending to. It can also vary if you are sending to international numbers.


EXAMPLE 2


Let us take for example the billing model below:

0802=1.2
0803=1.4
0805=2

The example above tells us that messages to airtel numbers will be billed at 1.2 units per message,


MTN is 1.4, while Glo is 2. This units will be automatically deducted from your account.

In summary, using the two examples above if you buy 50 sms units at 2 naira/unit, you spend 100 naira. But to send to 1 SMS to 1 airtel number will be 1.2 units. Hence actual cost to send to the said airtel number is 1.2x2 = N2.40



THE LAST PART IS WHAT MANY SMS GATEWAYS WILL NOT TELL YOU.



You will find many sms providers offering ridiculous prices for their sms like 30kobo etc. But they will usually
